Job Summary:

At Drata, trust is at the center of everything we build. We’re looking for an engineering leader to help scale the foundational systems powering identity, access management, and workforce orchestration across our platform.

This is a high-impact platform engineering leadership role focused on building secure, scalable systems that serve some of the most complex enterprise environments in SaaS today. You’ll lead a team responsible for the infrastructure and workflows that allow customers to onboard users, manage access, synchronize workforce data, and operate compliance programs at scale.

You’ll partner closely across Engineering, Product, Customer Success, and Support to shape platform capabilities that power the broader product ecosystem — while mentoring and growing a high-performing engineering team.

About the team:

This team owns Drata's identity, personnel, and access-control platform — the foundation that lets our largest, most complex customers onboard their workforce and run their compliance programs at scale. The team's domain spans identity provider integrations, directory and HR system synchronization, and the role and permission model that gates every product surface. As this is a platform team, the manager's role involves both leading delivery and partnering with peer teams across the organization who consume the team's capabilities.

This role will help define how AI is responsibly embedded into a trust-critical enterprise platform — balancing automation, security, identity, and customer trust at scale.

What you'll do:

  • Lead, mentor, and grow a team of ~5 highly skilled Software Engineers while fostering a strong engineering culture centered around ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

  • Drive execution of multi-quarter platform initiatives spanning identity, authorization, personnel data, and enterprise scalability.

  • Support the evolution of AI-ready platform capabilities, including APIs and workflows designed for agentic and LLM-powered experiences.

  • Partner cross-functionally with Product, Customer Success, Support, and peer Engineering teams to deliver resilient platform capabilities consumed throughout the organization.

  • Define and evolve platform APIs, contracts, and shared services with thoughtful migration strategies and long-term maintainability in mind.

  • Raise the reliability bar for critical customer-facing systems through observability, incident analysis, automation, and operational excellence.

  • Manage on-call processes and incident response for high-scale, business-critical infrastructure.

  • Stay close to architecture and implementation details by reviewing designs and PRs, unblocking engineers on complex technical problems, and occasionally contributing hands-on where it accelerates delivery.

  • Help shape technical strategy and architectural direction for identity and access systems supporting large-scale enterprise environments.

  • Drive scalable engineering practices across roadmap planning, estimation, delivery, technical debt management, and SDLC execution.

What you’ll bring:

  • Minimum of 2 - 3+ years of software engineering management.

  • Minimum of 6+ years of experience designing, developing, and delivering software products.

  • Track record of cross-team platform leadership — defining APIs other engineering teams consume and balancing platform investment against new feature delivery.

  • Experience designing platform APIs intended for consumption by AI agents and LLM-based workflows (e.g., MCP, function-calling APIs).

  • Experience scaling systems for large enterprise customers in highly regulated environments.

  • Experience leading a team that owns or deeply integrates with identity providers (e.g., Okta, Microsoft Entra ID, Google Workspace) and the underlying protocols — SAML 2.0, OIDC / OAuth 2.0, and SCIM 2.0 — including identity lifecycle and provisioning patterns such as just-in-time provisioning, role mapping, deprovisioning, and identity reconciliation.

  • Experience with role- and policy-based access control (RBAC / ABAC / PBAC) in a multi-tenant SaaS platform.

  • Experience scaling synchronization and event-driven pipelines under multi-tenant load.

  • Comfort with enterprise-grade reliability practices: SLOs, error budgets, structured observability, and reducing manual-remediation toil.

  • Strong communication skills, eagerness to share ideas, and a collaborative posture with peers and partner teams.

  • Experience with React, Javascript, TypeScript, NodeJS, OOP, TypeORM, MySQL, Git, and AWS (Terraform is a plus).

Bonus Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree or professional certification.

  • Experience operating durable, long-running workflows on a workflow engine such as Temporal (or comparable systems).

  • Background in security, identity, IAM, compliance, or GRC platforms.

  • Familiarity with HR information systems as a data source for workforce identity and personnel

Why This Role Stands Out

  • High visibility platform team with broad influence across the product and engineering organization.

  • Opportunity to shape the foundation of enterprise identity and authorization at scale.

  • Blend of people leadership, technical strategy, and architectural ownership.

  • Meaningful technical challenges across distributed systems, IAM, scalability, reliability, and AI-ready infrastructure.

  • Chance to work on foundational systems that directly impact customer trust and enterprise adoption.
