Note: This feature is available in the New Drata Experience only.
Drata now renders Markdown formatting in supported text areas, making it easier to write well-structured, scannable content across the platform.
Why It Matters
- Long-form fields like control descriptions and risk descriptions often contain complex, multi-step content that was previously displayed as a wall of unformatted text.
- Markdown support lets users structure their content with bullets, headings, numbered lists, tables, and links — without migrating to a different tool.
- Fields that support Markdown display a "Supports Markdown formatting" text so users always know when formatting is available.
What's New
- Supported formatting includes: headings, bullets, numbered lists, links, and tables.
Notes
- Markdown is rendered in detail and overview panels only. Markdown characters are not rendered in list or table views — they will appear as plain text there.
- Only Long Answer custom fields support Markdown. Short Answer (Text) custom fields do not.
- Existing content is not affected — plain text continues to display as expected, with no data migration required.
- No additional configuration is required. Markdown support is applied automatically to all supported fields.
